Although grapes were planted and wine was made as early as 1847, Oregon's modern viticultural era began roughly 45 years ago with a handful of intrepid wine pioneers in the Willamette Valley. The new breed of grape growers and winemakers were convinced that the cool-climate varietals such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris would not only grow in Oregon, but would produce world-class wines. Their proximity to the city of Portland and oregon's beautiful coastline make this a "must visit' wine region. We will sample several wines from the Willamette Valley where it all began.

Oregon wines taste of the land. The French call it terroir, we call it delicious. Oregon’s wine variety will satisfy anyone’s palate. Oregon is a special place with a commitment to producing high-quality wines. On a national scale, Oregon is the third largest wine grape producing state, yet remains focused on producing small-batch artisan wine. In fact, most Oregon wineries are small, family-owed, most producing fewer than 5,000 cases a year.

This is the perfect place for wine beginners to learn about wine and why it can be a life long, enjoyable experience. Experienced wine lovers can also benefit by using this evening to brush up on their wine knowledge and tasting skills. There is always something to learn about wine. The Beanery Cafe will serve an assortment of appetizers with the wines. All wines are served in Riedel stemware. No product purchase is required. You do not have to be a member of the Northern Lights Wine Club to attend any wine event at the Beanery Cafe.
