Although grapes were planted and wine was made as early as 1847, Oregon's modern viticultural era began roughly 45 years ago with a handful of intrepid wine pioneers. The new breed of grape growers and winemakers were convinced that the cool-climate varietals such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris would not only grow in Oregon, but would produce world-class wines. Most of Oregon's wineries are small, family-owed, artisanal producers. Their proximity to the city of Portland and oregon's beautiful coastline make this a "must visit' wine region. We will sample several wines from the Willamette Valley where it all began.

This is the perfect place for wine beginners to learn about wine and why it can be a life long, enjoyable experience. Experienced wine lovers can also benefit by using this evening to brush up on their wine knowledge and tasting skills. There is always something to learn about wine. The Beanery Cafe will serve an assortment of appetizers with the wines. You do not have to be a member of the Northern Lights Wine Club to attend any wine event at the Beanery Cafe. All wines are served in Riedel stemware. No product purchase is required.
